Do we need to readd the closing tags again?

Hi,

I'm not using PHP5.1, but I don't think its closing tags. All the files don't have closing tags. I reckon there is a strong clue in "I edit local.php and then it doesn't work".

I know if I edit some dokuwiki files in Dreamweaver I end up with a spurious character at the end (a single byte, 0xFF). That applies to local.php, smileys.conf and some others, mostly config files. It doesn't apply to most of the other "script" files, e.g. /inc/parser/lexer.php.

If I were to save local.php from Dreamweaver and then attempt to browse the wiki I get nothing - FireFox reports an empty html cache. If add "?>" at the end of local.php, Dokuwiki will come back - although with warnings that "headers have already been sent". If the php installation did not report errors to the user then they may not notice anything at all.

Cheers,

Chris

PS. admin.php plugin isn't very precise. It sounds like a file created by the user directly to install a plugin (who knows which one). The problem could be that plugin or it could be the same editor problem that I speculated above.
